Affiliate Case Study: A website focused on professionally monitored alarm system and home security installation, built with WPCityPages
This project involved creating and managing an informational website about installing professionally monitored alarm systems in France. The site is monetized through an affiliate model, earning commissions on quote requests generated for the nation’s leading security companies. It features about twenty pages of resources, covering different types of alarm systems, key considerations based on housing type, common installation mistakes to avoid, and tips on potentially lowering homeowner’s insurance costs.
WPCityPages Configuration
We deployed a “Monitored Alarm Quotes” section using the WPCityPages WordPress plugin. Since alarm systems are most popular for houses, we targeted municipalities with over 1,000 residents throughout France, excluding overseas territories and Corsica (areas our business partners do not serve). This resulted in a total of about 11,000 pages. For monetization, each generated city and department page features affiliate links to the websites of key players in the industry.
WPCityPages Content Strategy
Text and Images
We created two master spintax templates (one for the city level and one for the department level) integrated with WPCityPages shortcodes. Each template generates approximately 1,100 words of unique text (6 paragraphs) discussing all aspects of installing a monitored alarm system at home. We also added 800 words of unique content for the Main Page.
To enhance visual appeal and uniqueness, we included 6 unique images for each level (Main Page, department, and city), totaling 18 images (one per paragraph).
Internal Linking
On the site’s homepage, we added links to all the departments. In the footer, which appears on every page, we included links to the 15 largest cities in France.
For the section generated by WPCityPages, we implemented a specific internal linking structure for each of the three levels (Main Page, department, and city).
- Main Page: Links to all targeted French departments.
- Department Pages: Links to the 10 nearby departments and the 40 largest cities within the same department.
- City Pages: Links to the 10 largest cities in the same department and the 20 closest cities.
Deploying the WPCityPages Section
We submitted the sitemap to Google Search Console for rapid indexing and configured WP Rocket to optimize the loading speed of the pages generated by WPCityPages.
External Linking
The site was launched from scratch with a new domain name and no link history. We progressively built about forty external links (from free directories and Linkuma links), investing approximately €300 over three months.
Results
The site launched in December 2024. The market for professionally monitored alarm system installation is highly competitive, with leads commanding high payouts.
Indexing of WPCityPages-Generated Pages
The site had 2,900 pages indexed within a few days, reaching a total of 4,795 indexed pages by the time this case study was published (September 9, 2025).
Traffic Generated with WPCityPages
During the first 8 months after launching, the site’s average daily traffic from Google ranged between 7 and 20 clicks. It’s important to remember that this is a very competitive niche, with extensive Google Ads campaigns targeting all keywords and numerous local agencies running their own sites. The site also received traffic from Bing, Ecosia, Qwant, Yahoo, and Chat GPT.
Monetization: How much revenue did this alarm installation affiliate site generate?
From January 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025, the site generated €2,300 in revenue. This averages out to €287.5 per month. It’s worth noting that revenue showed a positive upward trend in the last three months.
