"Rank and Rent" Case Study: A website for window decal design and installation, created with WPCityPages
We created a website specializing in generating quote requests for the design and installation of window decals in France. This service involves creating and applying custom stickers to glass surfaces like storefronts, windows, and glass partitions. The site is monetized using the “Rank and Rent” model, earning a commission from our client for each generated quote request. The site features about fifteen pages showcasing examples of work for various sectors, including pharmacies, medical offices, retail stores, schools, and offices.
WPCityPages Configuration
We deployed a “Our Services” section using the WPCityPages WordPress plugin. Since window decals are primarily a B2B service, we targeted municipalities with over 7,000 inhabitants across France, excluding overseas territories and Corsica (areas our business partner does not serve). This resulted in a total of about 1,500 pages. For monetization, we placed calls-to-action (CTAs) directing users to the quote request form on every generated city and department page.
WPCityPages Content Strategy
Text and Images
We developed two master spintax templates with integrated WPCityPages shortcodes (one for the city level and one for the department level). Each template generates approximately 1,000 words of text (6 paragraphs) detailing the process of designing and installing window decals for commercial establishments. We also added 800 words of unique content for the Main Page.
We included 6 unique images in the content for each level (Main Page, department, and cities), for a total of 18 images (one image per paragraph).
Internal Linking
On the site’s homepage, we added links to all departments. In the footer, we included links to the 36 largest cities in France.
For the section generated by WPCityPages, we implemented a specific internal linking structure for each of the three levels (Main Page, department, and city).
- Main Page: Links to all targeted French departments.
- Department Pages: Links to the 7 nearby departments and the 20 largest cities within the same department.
- City Pages: Links to the 30 largest cities in the same department and the 10 nearest departments.
Deploying the WPCityPages Section
We submitted the sitemap to Google Search Console for rapid indexing and configured WP Rocket to optimize the loading speed of the pages generated by WPCityPages.
External Linking
The site was launched from scratch with a new domain name and no link history. We only built 3 external links (from free directories).
Results
The site went live on January 13, 2025. Just 2 days after opening the site to search engines, we received our first 2 quote requests.

The site has achieved a total of 824 indexed pages as of the publication date of this case study (September 15, 2025).
Traffic Generated with WPCityPages
In the first 8 months after launching this window decal site, the average daily traffic from Google has been between 5 and 10 clicks. We are also seeing a gradual increase in visits from the Bing search engine. It’s important to note that this is a highly niche topic with low search volume. The site has also received visits from Ecosia, Qwant, Yahoo, and Chat GPT.
